Mission Statement:
"To connect people, places, and opportunity in the Lowcountry for a day, for a lifetime."

What are Storied Boards?
Simple, spontaneous play with objects de’ arte-- e.g. stuff. Intuitively arranged, the objects work together to offer surprises long after the creative event!
If every picture tells a story, and that picture is made up from pictures, and keepsakes, and memorabilia, and other ephemera collected in your world, it stands to reason the aggregate would tell many stories, in no particular order of reference.
You may intentionally set to work on creating a particular story, or let the pieces fall as they please.
The intentional approach, (left-brained) can be exhausting, frustrating, and discouraging, as it seems always if there were just that one special element, it would really come together. Which is fine, if you want to go treasure hunting, too. These pieces can be especially powerful if you are making them as a token of friendship or remembrance--thus extra effort is a noble investment.
This is a very eye-fetching art form which is so easy to do, that for once, you can leave your left brain at home.
It allows you to let your right-brain run uninterrupted, and still create something wonderful.

What to Expect:
This class is a primer, in the sense of sharing enough information on 3-D basics, to get you excited!
For most it will re-kindle the knowledge-base of myriad craft projects encountered since childhood.
Construction and preserving tips will be offered, as well as basics such as decoupage, wire work, all peppered with vivid, anecdotal experience from the field.

What to Bring:
Embrace randomness! Bring a box of “stuff”-- fragments of materialism and remembrance that haunt the bottom of your sock drawer, jewelry box, desk drawer, refrigerator door, that envelope with those itty-bitty photos grandma bequeathed you, and so forth. Sequins, glitter, ribbons, even petrified S&H Green Stamps!
*Leveraging randomness is a very powerful artist’s strategy that you may employ here. Of course it is up to you, but sharing bric-a-brac can sometimes be a real plus. Sharing is a great way to dislodge writer’s block and also engage in ridiculous conversations with complete strangers! Plus, it is fun to dig through someone else’s stuff. What’s junk to me may be treasure to you, so bring some things you may want to swap out with the others.
If you have a craft box with some crafting tools, paint brushes, scissors, please bring it along.
Notes:
Sharing stories is the main idea behind Storied Boards. There is a Storied Boards webpage anxiously awaiting the first upload of pictures. The simplest method for capturing the image is to gently place it on your scanner, scan, and upload to Facebook! So-- book-sized is good.
Board types are unlimited-- anything from old canvases to dime novels to a shingle from a shack.
